Apple made an announcement today that it will partner with 10 suppliers and invest nearly $300 million into the China Clean Energy Fund.
This new fund will be invested in climate change solutions renewable energy sources, 10 suppliers including Pegatron Corp (4938.TW) and Wistron Corp (3231.TW) also joined in the invest group with other 8 suppliers, and the project will be over a four-year period.
It has long been an important project for Apple addressing climate change and renewable energy, and the technology giant has been taken several steps in these years, including using renewable energy sources for its North Carolina data center. This time, the cooperation between Apple and China will make significant movement in cutting pollution and improving waterways and polluted soil in China.
“We’re thrilled so many of our suppliers are participating in the fund and hope this model can be replicated globally to help businesses of all sizes make a significant positive impact on our planet.” Said Lisa Jackson, Apple’s vice president of Environment, Policy and Social Initiatives.
